You Can Love Your Body and Still Have Goals

Sis, you don’t have to wait until you reach your goal to love the woman in the mirror.

You can want to get stronger, lose weight, or build healthier habits while appreciating the body you have today.

I know what it feels like to focus on what needs to change. After losing approximately 200 pounds and maintaining significant weight loss for 21 years, I still have goals. But I’ve learned to pay attention to how I treat myself while working toward them.

My body needs care at every stage of this journey.

I’m learning to be kinder to my body

There was a time when I did so many workouts that were hard on my body. As I get older, I’m changing how I move.

Some days I lift weights. Some days I walk. Some days I do Pilates. And some days, I give my body a break—even when my mind is telling me I should be doing something.

Resting can be a challenge when movement has become part of your lifestyle! But I’m learning to listen and honor what my body needs today.

I want to keep moving, stay strong, and enjoy my life for years to come. That means making choices that support the woman I am now.

Pay attention to how you speak to HER

What do you say to yourself when you get dressed? When you see a picture of yourself? When the scale doesn’t move?

Those moments matter.

You can acknowledge that you want change without tearing yourself down. Try saying:

“I’m learning to care for myself.”

“I’m proud of the ways I keep showing up.”

“I can appreciate my body and continue working toward my goals.”

You may have to practice speaking that way. I understand. Practice until shift happens.

Use the PAUSE

In The B.Y.P.A.S.S. Method, I teach the importance of pausing. Give yourself a moment before allowing a critical thought to decide your next action.

Ask yourself: What do I need right now? Am I choosing this workout, meal, or moment of rest from a place of care? What is one step I can take today that supports my well-being?

You don’t have to figure out the entire journey today.

Start with the next choice. A nourishing meal. Movement you enjoy. Rest. A kinder word to yourself.

You are God’s daughter today. You deserve care today.

Dear HER, you can love your body and still have goals. Care for HER every step of the way.

With love,
